ICv2 – Origins Awards Winners.

At the Origins Game Fair in Columbus, Ohio, the Academy of Adventure Gaming Arts and Design announced the winners of the 39th Annual Origins Awards.  The winners were chosen by the attendees of the Origins event from a list of nominees selected in each category by retailers attending the GAMA Trade Show in March (see “Origins Nominations Announced” for a complete list of the games that were honored with a nomination).  

Wizkids was the big winner with three awards.  Margaret Weis Productions and Battlefront Miniatures each won two Origins Awards, while Wizards of the Coast won “Best Board Game” withLords of the Waterdeep and Alderac won “Best Collectible Card Game” with L5R: Embers of War.

  1. Some worthy winners, there. I fund it hard to celeb I saw the day that Heroclix con “best miniatures line”, though. And I can’t say I rate MWP much for RPGs, although I have heard that the Marvel Superheroes game is a cut above their usual offerings.

    • I agree. Makes me wonder who actually votes- Obviously the mini gamer doesn’t count as the majority of those who voted. I also question Victrix as the best historical winner. In regards to Wiz Kids stuff, it’s probably more mainstream than the “mini” hobby lines are, so they probably get more votes.
